Jeremy Shaw: Introduction to The Memory Personality

Video Installation

‘Introduction to The Memory Personality’ is a hypnotic video that sucks the viewer into a black vortex of time and reality, using mind manipulation to generate a sense of dread, overlaid with a multi-dimensional soundtrack. It has been exhibited worldwide, including during the Toronto International Film Festival in an exhibition dedicated to the work of filmmaker David Cronenberg. For this site-specific variation, the piece will be shown on the big screen at the Winspear Opera House.

Jeremy Shaw is a Canadian artist living and working in Berlin. Shaw explores altered states in his considerable body of work, straddling the borders between neuroscience and what he refers to as ‘psychedelic kitsch.’
