Joao Beira: Luxate

Audiovisual Installation and Dance Performance

‘Luxate’ is a new audiovisual installation and dance performance exploring the perception of light and space awareness. Activated by motion, Luxate morphs from an AV installation to a dance performance, generating a live dialogue between the performers and the environment beyond the screen.

Joao Beira is a visual artist from Porto, Portugal. His work explores the intersection between 3D projection design with interactive media. Integrated with his art practice, he is currently working towards a PhD at University of Texas, Austin, focus in data visualization for dance performance. He is also the founder and artistic director of → projection design studio.


While Beira is a creative director, Eriko Higuchi is a dancing performer involved in the project. Daniel Schaeffer is in charge of programming and David Wesley of sound design.
